THE HIGH MOON RISES
Today feels like a day to be over the moon with excitement about. We are finally launching the company we've been dreaming and planning for so long. I’ll be honest though, launching High Moon Speaker Company, on the heels of a pandemic, also feels a little crazy. We initially intended to launch in the Spring of 2020, but like so many had to do, we chose to hold back. While it doesn’t seem like there may ever be a perfect time to set foot out there, we have decided that it’s time for us to take that leap. Mindfully, thoughtfully, and respectfully we are putting ourselves out into the world and launching High Moon Speaker Company today.
And we are actually really, really excited and proud, but also humbled by this time.
As the world continues to turn and the sun continues to shine, I’m reminded that taking this next step can be a healing and strengthening thing to do. If we see each other recovering, and we continue to support one another in the process, my hope is that we can come out together, stronger, more connected with one another. Despite our many differences as people, we’ve got this shared experience to help us relate to one another better as humans.
My hope is that we come out of this time stronger. My hope is that we come out of this challenge bonded. My hope is that we hold onto the things we found value in while locked away from the fast and furious race to whatever we thought mattered before. But I’m aware that hope is not enough and that we have to put actions behind these hopes for the future. I honestly don’t want to go back to where we were. I want to build on what we were forced to face and come out of this seeing each other with more empathy.
The delay of our launch, forced us to slow down and gave us a chance to really consider what kind of a company we wanted to build. We want to build something that brings others joy, that makes us proud, and that we can make a living doing. But we will not do it at the expense of others or our planet. The only way we can justify our existence is to ask: what can we make better?
We at High Moon, are making a commitment to share, to give back and to consider our impact. We want to be a company that leaves the world in a better place than before we existed. We are, as people and as a company, choosing to push beyond our comfort and ask the harder questions. What is important? What kind of world do we want to live in? And what is our role in helping to shape that world? We are committed to following these questions to shape our actions.
As we launch our company into existence, we feel that we cannot do that without also giving back at the same time. In that spirit, we will be donating 100% of all profits from the first 10 sets of speakers to Black Fret, an organization in Austin that is helping to support musicians. Live music in Austin is one of the many things that make this city so amazing to live in. Even if you don’t live in Austin, you may likely have visited and experienced some of what we have to offer as a city. We cannot wait to celebrate as a community again, listen to live music again, and toast to what we’ve come through together. We hope you’ll join us and continue to support one another and to celebrate the things in life that bring you real joy.
With so much love and respect,
High Moon Speaker Co.
