high moon’s guide to setting up speakers in a room

Every listening room is unique, with its own sets of advantages and challenges. High Moon speakers excel in a variety of situations. Below are tips to help you get the best sound out of your setup.

1) PLACE YOUR SPEAKERS 4-12 INCHES AWAY FROM THE WALL

Anywhere between 4-12 inches is a good start. Use your own ears and adjust to what sounds best to you. Want more bass? Move your speakers closer to 4” from the wall. Less bass? Pull away from the wall.

2) POSITION YOUR SPEAKERS AT EAR HEIGHT

Consider where you’ll be sitting while listening to your speakers and position your speakers so that they’re on the same plane as your ear.

3) ARRANGE YOUR SETUP IN A TRIANGLE

The speakers and listener should be arranged to form an equilateral triangle. This will ensure the sound “surrounds” you.

Try angling the speakers towards the center and see how you like it! This is called “toeing.”

If your room has you sitting farther away from the speakers than they are from each other (an elongated triangle), that's ok!

We recommend that your listening position be against an opposite wall. This arrangement will give you a little better bass response, and place the soundstage in front of you, like a concert.

4) ROOM TREATMENTS HELP WITH SOUND

Room treatments like rugs, curtains, blinds, pillows, etc. help with sound by reducing room echo.

5) GET IN THE ZONE

When you listen to music on High Moon speakers, you’re transported—sent on a journey deep within the music that surrounds you. Pack wisely. Is it time to pour a cup of tea or a glass of wine? Gather your friends or gather your thoughts?

We at High Moon especially enjoy opening our windows, lighting
some palo santo, and giving ourselves fully over to whatever
we’re listening to.

When playing your music through High Moon speakers, it’s not uncommon to hear things in your favorite song that you’ve never heard before. Enjoy the discovery.
